Men's Lacrosse Falls in OT, 11-10, to Moravian

Center Valley, PA (March 19, 2025) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped an 11-10 decision in overtime to local rival Moravian University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Moravian - 11, DeSales - 10 (OT)
  • Records: DeSales (1-7 overall); Moravian (4-2 overall)
  • The loss snaps a six-game win streak over the Greyhounds as the Bulldogs fall to 7-5 all-time vs. Moravian.
How it Happened
  • Moravian opened the game with three straight goals to take a 3-0 lead but the Bulldogs countered with three straight to tie the game.
  • A low scoring second quarter saw the Greyhounds holding a slim 5-4 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • After falling behind by two goals early in the second-half, DeSales got back-to-back goals from junior Joe Cieleski and junior Jake Hurd to tie the game at six.
  • Moravian re-claimed the lead but goals from first-years Matthew Costigan and Jason Reilly gave the Bulldogs its first lead, 8-7, mid-way thru the third quarter.
  • MU finished the quarter with two goals to take a 9-8 lead.
  • Reilly scored early in the fourth to tie the game at nine and senior Nate Perry scored with 5:49 to give DSU a 10-9 lead.
  • Moravian found the tying goal with 3:26 to go and neither team was able to score a game-winner over the final three minutes as the game advanced to overtime.
  • DeSales won the opening faceoff in OT but its shot was saved and the Greyhounds cleared the ball into the offensive end and called timeout.
  • Out of the timeout, the Bulldogs were called for a penalty and the Greyhounds were able to capitalize with the game-winner 1:48 into the extra period ending the game.

  • Hurd and Reilly each had two goals and an assist in the loss.
  • Costigan also scored twice and Perry finished with a goal and two assists.
  • Senior Anthony Gash won 9-of-20 faceoffs and had eight ground balls.
  • Junior Taylor Wikert had four caused turnovers to lead the defense.
  • Senior Hunter Waldron made nine saves in goal.

  • Nick Coffaro had two goals and three assists.
  • Trevor Dzama, Ryan Kokoszka, Steven Salica, and Dan Kelly all scored twice.
