Center Valley, PA (April 16, 2025) - The DeSales University baseball team lost its fourth straight game falling to Muhlenberg College, 15-9, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
Mules got the scoring started in the top of the first inning with two runs before the Bulldogs scored once in the bottom half of the frame on a wild pitch that allowed
JT Anderosky to come home as DSU trailed 2-1 after one.
Muhlenberg's offense remained hot as they scored five runs in the second and five more in the third inning to break this game open and expand their lead to 12-2 midway through the third. First-year
Jacob Rivera brought DSU a little closer in the bottom of third inning with his first career home run to right field as DeSales still faced a 12-3 deficit through three innings.
DSU would get one more in the fourth but the Mules responded with one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth as the lead swelled up to 15-4.
The Bulldogs would put together one final rally in the bottom of seventh with four runs off two hits but the deficit was too large to bounce back from as the Bulldogs suffered the 15-9 loss.
Rivera finished 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Sophomore
Jeremy Stranix went 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
First-year
Danny Kirk was charged with the loss pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing seven runs, six of which were unearned.
Junior
Anthony Schieble was stellar in relief for the Bulldogs pitching three scoreless innings and striking out seven batters.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Arcadia University to start a crucial MAC Freedom series with first pitch set for 3:30pm.
