Men's Lacrosse Knocks off Arcadia, 16-10, in MAC Freedom Semifinals

Glenside, PA (April 30, 2025) - Senior Pat Schuett had four goals and one assist leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team past Arcadia University, 16-10, in the MAC Freedom semifinals on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 16, Arcadia - 10
  • Records: DeSales (9-9 overall); Arcadia (12-6 overall)
  • The Bulldogs advance to the MAC Freedom Championship game for the sixth time and the third straight season where they will take on Stevens on Saturday at 5:00 pm.
  • DSU has now beaten Arcadia University for the third straight season in the MAC Freedom semifinals and moves to 10-4 all-time vs. Arcadia.
How it Happened
  • These two teams traded goals for the 7:13 as the game was tied at three before the Knights took their first lead of the game (4-3) at the 4:26 mark of the first quarter.
  • DSU took control scoring three goals over the final 2:56 of the quarter to lead 6-4.
  • The Bulldogs scored the only two goals of the second quarter taking an 8-4 advantage into the halftime locker room.
  • The run continued into the second half scoring the first two goals over the first eight minutes to lead 10-4.
  • Arcadia ended the run scoring for the first time in over 28 minutes of game action to pull within 10-5.
  • The Bulldogs had the answer scoring twice more to lead 12-5 and again with 41 ticks left in the quarter to lead 13-6 entering the final quarter.
  • DeSales put the exclamation point on the win scoring three of the first four goals of the fourth to take a 16-7 lead and never looked back after that.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Schuett led the scoring with five points.
  • Senior Nate Perry had three goals and one assist and junior Jake Hurd contributed two goals and an assist.
  • First-year Jason Reilly scored three times, junior Mark Winkler Jr. had a goal and an assist, and first-year Matthew Costigan added two helpers.
  • Senior Anthony Gash won 10-of-21 faceoffs and had six ground balls.
  • Senior Hunter Waldron had 10 saves in goal.

  • Kyle McLaughlin had two goals and two assists.
  • Nick Mormando and Andrew Borum each scored twice.
