CENTER VALLEY, Pa (August 19, 2025) -- The DeSales University men's soccer team has been picked second in the MAC Freedom preseason poll, as released by the conference and voted on by the eight MAC Freedom coaches on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs totaled 41 points, four ahead of Lebanon Valley. Stevens was named the preseason favorite with 49 points and seven first-place votes.
Senior standout Liam MacDonald returns for his senior season with the Bulldogs. Last season, MacDonald tallied 13 goals and two assists, finishing with an impressive 28 points. He was named the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year and to the All-MAC Freedom First Team.
Senior Joseph Reteneller also returns having started 19-of-20 games and ranking second on the team in minutes played. He recorded five goals – three of them game winners – and two assists, ending the season with 12 points. Reteneller was named to the Al-MAC Freedom Second Team.
The Bulldog are also return senior, Kevin Krall and sophomore JohnPaul Mazza. Krall appeared in 20 games, starting 16, and contributed six assists and one goal, finishing with eight points. He earned All-MAC Freedom Secon-Team honors. Mazza, played in 14 games and started four, tallying three goals.
Sophomores Jimmy Shensky and Larry Sullivan also return. Both played and started in 19 games. Sullivan scored one goal and received All-MAC Freedom Second-Team honors. Shensky was named MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year, earned a spot on the All-MAC Freedom First-Team, and was recognized as ECAC Rookie of the Year. He finished the year with 70 saves, nine shutouts, and a 0.65 GAA in between the pipes.
Head Coach George Crampton returns for this 26th season as the all-time winningest coach in team history with 242 wins. He has a 242-204-42 career record and has led the Bulldogs to five MAC Freedom Championships and six NCAA Tournament appearances.
DeSales will open the 2025 season on the road at Gwyned Mercy university on Aug. 29, 2025. The Bulldogs then begin a small home stretch, hosting Stockton (Sept. 3) and Catholic University of America (Sept. 6). On Sept. 27, DSU will host the University of Mount Union for the homecoming game. The MAC Freedom play begins Oct. 4, when the team hosts Delaware Valley University.
