CENTER VALLEY, PA (September 17, 2025) -- The DeSales University field hockey team fell to Montclair State University on Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup. 

The Basics

• Final Score: Montclair State - 2, DeSales - 1
• Records: DeSales (2-4 overall), Montclair State (2-4 overall)
• DSU falls to 1-5 in the all-time series with the Red Hawks. 

• The Bulldogs came out with a strong offensive presence in the first half, making moves in front of the Red Hawks net and protecting their own.  

• Morgan Benner was able to put the first goal on the board, when she tapped in a loose ball on the left post after some action in front of the goal.  

• The Bulldogs were able to hold the Red Hawks to nil until a penalty stroke in the third quarter just 47 seconds into the second half.  

• Another Red Hawks goal late in the third quarter put Montclair State up one goal. 

• The Bulldogs had a strong presence on both sides of the ball but were unable to tie it up. 

• Senior, Brynn Balliet finished the game with four shots on goal.  

• Benner put the first goal on the board, unassisted early in the second quarter.

• Marissa Craig scored the game-winner in the third quarter. 

• DeSales had a 12-7 edge in shots.
• Montclair State held an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners.

• DeSales is back in action on Saturday traveling to Dickinson College beginning at 1:00 pm.
