Second-Half Comeback Falls Short in 2-1 Loss at Muhlenberg for Women's Soccer

Allentown, PA (September 3, 2025) - The DeSales University women's soccer team fell just short in a second half comeback falling to local rival Muhlenberg College, 2-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

  • The loss snaps a five-game winning streak for the Bulldogs in the series with the Mules as the all-time mark moves to 6-5-1 in favor of DeSales.
How it Happened
  • Muhlenberg scored the only two goals of the first-half in the 23rd and 30th minute to claim a 2-0 halftime advantage.
  • DeSales cut the margin in half nine minutes into the second-half when junior Catherine Crampton knocked home the rebound of a saved header from senior Makayla Issakhani.
  • DSU kept the pressure on and seemed to the tie game in the 65th minute scoring again on a rebound off a saved shot but a late offsides negated the goal and the Bulldogs were unable to find the tying marker the rest of the way.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • It was the first points of the year for both Crampton and Issakhani in the loss.
  • Sophomore Saige Santa Cruz made seven saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Kaylie Thran scored both goals for the Mules.

  • The Bulldogs dominated the shots holding a 26-12 advantage and a 10-9 edge in shots on goal.
  • DSU also had a decisive edge in corner kicks, 7-2.
