Thomas Leads Huge Second-Half Comeback in 67-63 Win over Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (Janury 24, 2026) - Sophomore Jayden Thomas scored 33 points leading a huge second-half comeback as the DeSales University men's basketball team took down Misericordia University, 67-63, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

The Basics

  • Records: DeSales (9-8, 4-2 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (12-5, 4-2 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs improve to 40-21 in the all-time series between the two teams and are 28-6 in Billera Hall vs. the Cougars.
How it Happened
  • Misericordia controlled the start of this game, opening up a 14-4 lead six minutes into the game.
  • DeSales cut the margin down to two points (18-16) but went cold over the final nine minutes of the first-half to trail by 13 points (34-21) at the half.
  • The Cougars led by 16 points several times including 50-34 with 11:32 left to play when DSU began its comeback.
  • A three from senior Will Meeker was followed by a bucket from Thomas to make it an 11-point game.
  • MU made two free throws on its next possession before a 16-2 run gave the Bulldogs a 55-54 lead with 6:12 remaining.
  • First-year Riley Buzby, sophomore Emanuel Domingo, and Thomas all hit 3's during the run with Thomas nailing two and capping off the spurt with two freebies.
  • The game went back-and-forth over the next few minutes as the Cougars took a one-point lead (58-57) with 3:40 left.
  • Domingo and Thomas converted back-to-back three-point plays to give the Bulldogs a 63-58 lead with 1:46 on the clock.
  • After two MU free throws, DSU missed a golden opportunity to ice the game, but a missed layup was followed by a foul on the ensuing rebound and Misericordia cashed in both free throws to cut the margin down to two points (63-61) with 45 ticks left.
  • The Bulldogs let the clock wind down to late in the shot clock and its shot to ice it was off the mark but Domingo was there to soar high above the rim for an impressive tap in to make it a four point game (65-61) and sophomore Luke Keppel iced the win from the line with 3.8 seconds left.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Thomas finished with an incredible 33 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the win playing all 40 minutes.
  • Domingo came off the bench to score 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Keppel had six points, but added 12 rebounds and three assists.
  • Buzby had eight points and seven boards.
For the Foes
  • Jack Gallagher had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Matt Prociak finished with 18 points.
  • Eli Stoute added 11 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales finished the game shooting just 33.9 percent from the field but was outstanding from the free throw line converting 19-of-23 (82.6 percent).
  • DSU dominated the glass, out-rebounding MU, 44-32.
  • The Bulldogs made 10 three-pointers, eight in the second-half.
