Men's Basketball Torches the Nets in 83-67 Win over Stevens on Senior Day

Center Valley, PA (February 14, 2026) - The DeSales University men's basketball team shot 55.8 percent from the field and canned 11 three pointers in an 83-67 win over Stevens in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

The Basics

  • The Bulldogs move to 12-5 all-time vs. the Ducks in the all-time series.
  • DSU is now in a tie for second place with Stevens in the MAC Freedom standings, one game behind Arcadia University, with two games left in the regular season.
How it Happened
  • Stevens took an early 5-0 lead in this one and continued to lead by one (11-10) halfway thru the opening half.
  • The Bulldogs used an 11-0 run, led by nine points from sophomore Jayden Thomas to take a 21-11 lead at the 6:21 mark of the first-half.
  • The lead never grew to more than 10 the rest of the half before DSU settled for a 35-27 lead into the locker room.
  • The Ducks scored the first seven points out of the locker room to get within one point (35-34) as the two teams went back-and-forth over the next several minutes with DeSales clinging to a three-point advantage (48-45) with 12:12 left to play.
  • Consecutive 3's from senior Will Meeker was followed by a 3 from first-year Riley Buzby igniting a 12-3 to give DeSales a 60-48 lead.
  • The Bulldogs stayed hot the rest of the half as Buzby finished with 19 second-half points holding off any Duck rally as the lead never went below 13 points the rest of the way with DeSales taking home the season split with the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Thomas once again led the way totaling 26 points, 18 in the first-half, adding four boards and six assists.
  • Buzby finished with a season-high 19 points, all in the second-half, hitting five 3's and adding three assists.
  • Sophomore Luke Keppel had 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
  • Meeker added 10 points, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field.
For the Foes
  • Evan Gutowski had 17 points off the bench to lead Stevens.
  • Kyle Maddison finished with 16 points and Matt Leming added 15 tallies.
  • Tommy Scholl had 10 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 55.8 percent as compared to just 37.7 percent for the Ducks.
  • Stevens shot 31 free throws, but made just 16 of them, 51.6 percent for the game.
  • DSU's bench out-scored the Ducks, 40-18.
