Women's Basketball Tripped up at Misericordia in Regular Season Finale

Dallas, PA (February 21, 2026) - The DeSales University women's basketball team dropped the MAC Freedom regular season finale at Misercordia University on Saturday afternoon, 62-53.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Misericordia - 62, DeSales - 53
  • Records: DeSales (17-8, 11-3 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (13-12, 8-6 MAC Freedom)
  • The loss snaps a 16-game win streak in the series as the Bulldogs move to 47-13 all-time vs. Misericordia.
  • Depsite the loss DeSales will be the top seed in next week's MAC Freedom postseason tournament and will host Lebanon Valley College in the semifinals on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
How it Happened
  • DeSales got off to a quick start scoring the first seven points of the game before the Cougars used a 9-1 run to take a 9-8 lead and led 13-11 after one quarter of play.
  • The second quarter was back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than four points as the Cougars scored last to take a 32-31 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • MU raced out of the gates in the third quarter on a 15-1 run to take a 47-32 lead at the 5:37 mark.
  • DSU whittled the margin down to nine points but the Cougars scored seven straight to take a 54-38 lead and led by that same 16-point margin at the end of the quarter.
  • The Bulldogs chipped away early in the fourth quarter but were never able to get any closer than nine points late.
Top Bulldog Performers For the Foes
  • Morgan Janeski had 24 points to lead Misericordia.
  • Emily Romanowski added 11 points and Chase Purdy recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU allowed 60+ points in a MAC Freedom game for the first time this season as MU shot 40.3 percent from the field.
  • MU out-rebounded DeSales, 44-39 and held the Bulldogs to just 31.7 percent from the field.
