Center Valley, PA (February 28, 2026) - The DeSales University women's basketball team took home its 13th MAC Freedom championship with a 59-51 win over Stevens, which was win #700 for head coach
Fred Richter, on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

- This was DSU's 13th MAC Freedom Conference Championship and the 15th conference title in Richter's career.
- The Bulldogs extend their MAC Freedom postseason tournament home win streak to 15 straight.
- Richter becomes the 13th coach to win 700 career games in NCAA Division III women's basketball coaching history and the 48th coach to win 700 games in women's basketball among all Divisions.
- DSU is now 15-7 all-time vs. the Ducks and 12-1 at home.
- DeSales earns the AQ into the NCAA Tournament and will learn its destination on Monday afternoon with the first round starting on Friday, March 6th.
How it Happened
- DeSales scored the first four points of the game before a 10-2 Duck run gave Stevens a 10-6 lead.
- Consecutive buckets from senior Sammi White tied the game at 10 and two free throws from senior Lindsay Bednarek gave the Bulldogs a 12-10 first quarter lead.
- Leading by two (16-14), DSU used a 9-1 run, led by six points from Bednarek, to take a 25-15 lead and led by nine (32-23) at the half.
- Stevens scored the first four points of the second-half to get within five, but the Bulldogs had an answer for every Stevens run pushing the lead back to 10 points (46-36) late in the quarter and led by eight (46-38) after three quarters of play.
- The two teams traded baskets to start the fourth quarter before the Bulldogs got two big 3's from senior Mikaili Donmoyer and sophomore Kayla Ishigami to maintain the eight points advantage (56-58) with 2:41 to go.
- The Bulldogs iced the win from the line hitting 3-of-6 down the stretch.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Donmoyer took home MAC Freedom postseason tournament Most Valuable Player honors scoring a game-high 16 points.
- Bednarek had her first career double-double with 15 points and 12 boards, adding five assists.
- Ishigami tossed in 14 points and sophomore Aubrey Pollard added eight points and six boards.
- White finished with six points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
For the Foes
- Fiona O'Boyle led the Ducks with a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds, off the bench.
- Olivia Schubiger had 14 points.
- Senior Leyla Castro was held to nine points.

- The Bulldogs shot 40.7 percent from the field and held Stevens to just 32.8 percent shooting.
