Defense Lifts Women's Basketball Past Lebanon Valley, 49-43

Center Valley, PA (February 4, 2026) - The DeSales University women's basketball team held Lebanon Valley College to just 43 points and 34.7 percent shooting leading to a 49-43 win in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 49, Lebanon Valley - 43
  • Records: DeSales (14-6, 8-1 MAC Freedom); Lebanon Valley (15-5, 6-3 MAC Freedom)
  • DSU sweeps the season series between the two teams and has now won three straight over the Flying Dutchmen to improve to 12-3 all-time in the series.
  • DeSales stays atop the MAC Freedom standings as the lone team with just one loss with five games left in the regular season.
How it Happened
  • The DeSales defense was on lockdown at the start of the game holding LVC scoreless over the first seven minutes before two free throws made it an 8-2 game.
  • A layup from junior Mia Stock near the end of the opening quarter gave the Bulldogs a 14-6 lead.
  • A 5-0 run in the middle of the second quarter pushed the advantage to double digits and the lead peaked at 11 points after a bucket from sophomore Marissa LaVerghetta with 3:51 left.
  • LVC closed the half with four straight points to trail by just seven (23-16) at halftime.
  • DSU led by 10 (32-22) with 2:46 left in the third quarter when the Flying Dutchmen scored five points in one possession after a bucket, missed free throw, and three-point play off the missed free throw.
  • DeSales pushed the lead up to eight points and Lebanon Valley trailed by six points (35-29) after three quarters of play.
  • LVC kept chipping away and after back-to-back 3's, trailed by just three with 4:15 remaining.
  • Each team traded free throws as the DeSales lead remained three when senior Mikaili Donmoyer hit a clutch three with two minutes left to make it a six point game.
  • The Flying Dutchmen got a bucket on the other end but Donmoyer and sophomore Kayla Ishigami iced the win from the charity stripe hitting 4-for-6 over the final 48 seconds.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Lindsay Bednarek led the Bulldogs with 13 points.
  • Donmoyer had 11 points, going 8-for-10 from the free throw line, and adding four steals.
  • Sophomore Aubrey Pollard finished with nine points and 12 boards and senior Sammi White had four blocked shots.
For the Foes
  • Riley Hevelow led all scorers with 20 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot 35.6 percent and did an excellent job at the charity stripe hitting 15-for-20 (75%).
  • LVC won the battle on the boards, 34-30.
