Bulldogs Dominate Ramapo, 5-0, in Season Opener

CENTER VALLEY, PA (Sept. 2, 2026) -- The DeSales University field hockey team defeated the Ramapo College Roadrunners, 5-0, in its season opener at home on Wednesday evening controlling the game from start to finish through wet conditions.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales University – 5, Ramapo College – 0
  • Records: DeSales – 1-0, Ramapo – 0-1
  • DeSales scored in all four quarters while recording a shutout in its first game of the season.
  • This was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2014 season as the Bulldogs won their fourth straight in the series and improved to 5-6 all-time vs. Ramapo.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs got off to a quick start, scoring early in the first quarter when senior Alina Culver found the back of the cage off an assist from first-year Hailey Wert to give DeSales a 1-0 lead.
  • DeSales continued to control possession in the second quarter, as junior Mia Carder added the Bulldogs' second goal early in the period.
  • Later in the second quarter, first-year Shelby Haldeman added another goal, the first of her career, to give DeSales a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
  • The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure in the second half as junior Abigail Antipas scored off an assist from sophomore Amelia Wehr to extend the lead to 4-0. It was the first point of Wehr's career.
  • Antipas found the back of the cage again in the fourth quarter, recording her second goal of the game and completing the 5-0 victory.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Antipas led the Bulldogs with two goals, scoring once in both the third and fourth quarters.
  • Culver, Ciarder and Haldeman each recorded one goal in the victory.
  • Wert and Wehr each finished with an assist.
  • Sophomore Lily Trocki was solid in goal making three saves to record her first career shutout.
For the Foes
  • Ramapo goal keeper's combined to make 19 total saves on the night.
  • The Roadrunners were unable to capitalize on any of their three penalty corner opportunities.
