Arkans Announced as Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

Center Valley, PA, (September 25, 2026) – Director of Athletics Scott Coval has announced Dan Arkans as the new head men's and women's tennis coach replacing the recently retired Rick Farris.
 
He joins the Bulldogs having served as the head coach of the boys and girls tennis teams at nearby Bethlehem Catholic High School since 2023. Prior to coaching at Bethlehem Catholic, Arkans served as the assistant coach at Quakertown Community HS from 2021-23. He has also spent time as an assistant tennis pro at Winning Touch in Allentown, PA for two years, as a tennis pro at Tennis Zone for five months, and as a Teaching Pro at PlayTennisLV since June, 2026.

"I'm honored and humbled to be named the head men's and women's tennis coach at DeSales University", said Arkans. I would like to thank the Director of Athletics, Scott Coval, Assistant Director of Athletics Gracia Perilli, and the search committee for providing me with this opportunity to usher these student-athletes toward success. I am committed to fostering a competitive, supportive, and growth-oriented environment where our student-athletes can excel both on and off the field. It has been my dream since my kids were a part of former coach David Kurvinik's junior tennis program to coach at DeSales and I am thrilled to restore the program to prominence."

Arkans graduated from Arcadia University in 1994 with Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in political science. He played tennis for Arcadia, serving as the team captain for two years, while playing No. 1 singles for the Knights. He won Senior Athlete of the Year in 1994.

"Dan has an extensive coaching experience and is respected as a teaching professional in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has a strong passion for teaching the game and we are excited for the future of our tennis programs under his leadership."
