DeSales University Athletics

Buchanan joined the Bulldogs during the summer of 2018. Prior to DeSales, Buchanan served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida for three seasons. During his time at AMU, Buchanan helped lead the Gyrenes to several offensive milestones including the programs home run record in 2015 and again in 2017.

In 2015 and 2016, Buchanan and the rest of the Ave Maria coaching staff assembled recruiting classes that were ranked in the top 5 nationally by Perfect Game, USA.

In the summer, Buchanan has spent five seasons as a coach in the Perfect Game Collegiate League (Cooperstown Hawkeyes 2012, Albany Dutchmen 2013-14, 2018-19) working with players from some of the nation’s top college programs.

Buchanan’s coaching career has also included stops at Bard College, Dutchess Community College, and SUNY New Paltz, where he graduated from in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Along with his coaching responsibilities, Buchanan will be pursuing his master’s degree in secondary education from DeSales.
