Carney joined the men's soccer coaching staff as the graduate assistant in the summer of 2026.
Carney is originally from Springfield, MA where he captained West Springfield HS to a Division 2 State Championship in 2021, while also being selected to the All-New England team.
Following HS he played two years at Herkimer College (NY) in NJCAA. He servvied as a team captain, named an Academic All American, and a United Soccer Coaches All American both years. He conceded only three goals and led the team to the NJCAA National Semifinal as a freshman. As a sophomore he was named a team captain and earned Region III MVP honors en route to another national semifinal.
He transferred to Assumpton University in Worcester, MA following his two years at Herkimer. He was named a team captain with Assumption and led NCAA Division II in saves per game in 2025. He is a Grassroots licensed coach pursuing his USSF D License currently and has coached and mentored dozens of players in Western Massachusetts as they pursue their college career.
Carney is currently pursuing his MBA in project management on top of coaching responsibilities.
