David Kurvink

David Kurvink enters his fifth season as the first full-time men’s and women’s tennis coach at DeSales University in the school’s history after DeSales re-instated the two teams in the Fall of 2016.
 
In his first four seasons with the women’s program the Bulldogs have posted a 49-16 (.754) record as Kurvink is the all-time leader in wins.  DSU has qualified for the MAC Freedom postseason his first three seasons and in 2017 and 2019 advanced to the MAC Freedom championship match.  In 2017, the Bulldogs posted a school-record 17 wins, finishing the season 17-3, and had a 16-match winning streak during the year.
 
On the men’s side Kruvink is 29-28 (.509) over his first four years.  DSU has also qualified for the MAC Freedom postseason his first three years, after having just one playoff appearance in its history prior to Kurvink’s arrival.  He is second all-time in wins on the men’s side, trailing the all-time leader by 23 wins entering the 2020-21 academic year.
 
Kurvink brings with him a wealth of coaching and playing experience that includes director and head pro positions across the country, head men's tennis coach at nationally ranked Methodist University from 2008-11, among other head coaching positions. While at Methodist he led the Monarchs to the conference semifinals twice and helped re-build the programs at Adrian College. He also earned teaching professional of the year honors from the USTA in 2012 while at West End.
 
Kurvink is also CEO at Kids Play Tennis Community Outreach Program in which he created a the non-profit for the development of tennis and learning to underprivileged youth in the Lehigh Valley. KPT has earned numerous awards including 2016 and 2017 USTA/MS Premier Facility, 2015 USTA/EPD Community Tennis Facility of the year and 2016 and 2017 USTA Middle States CTA of the year.
 
Kurvink continues to spend a generous amount of time volunteering in many different tennis capacities. Most recently he was placed on the USTA National Community Tennis Association Committee where he helps organize community tennis. Kurvink is on the USTA Middle States Board of Directors and serves as the chair of the schools committee. At the local level, Kurvink is on the USTA Eastern PA District counsel and is the delegate for Middle States.
 
He graduated from Moravian College in 2003 as a clinical/counseling psychology major with a minor in education/sociology and masters in school counseling from St. Lawrence University.
