Coaching at DeSales
Coach Hornig has guided the Bulldogs to a top three finish in cross-country 10 times.  DSU won its first-ever MAC CC Championship in 2016 and became the first team to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships that same season.  In addition, Hornig has seen 10 individuals qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
 
In T&F, Hornig enjoyed the most success during the 2008-09 season when he led the Bulldogs to a second place finish at the MAC Championships in indoor track & field and a third place in outdoor track & field.  He has also guided several student-athletes to the NCAA Division III National Championships including DeSales’ Hall of Famer, Gina Lucrezi, who was a seven-time T&F All-American winning an individual National Championship in the 1,500 in indoor track in 2004.

·       Christine Howe ’03 – Two-time All-MAC performer earning Second-Team honors in 1999 and First-Team honors in 2000…named All-Freshman Mid-East Region in 1999…All-Mid-East Region in 1999 (35th place) and 2000 (14th place).
·       Alicia Gould ’03 – Two-time All-MAC earning Second-Team in 2001 and First-Team in 2002.
·       Kacie Aristide ’04 – Two-time All-MAC Second-Team…All-Mid-East Region in 2003 with 32nd place finish…Named MAC Women’s CC Senior Scholar-Athlete in 2003.
·       Gina Lucrezi ’05 – Three-time All-American with a seventh place finish at the National Championships as a senior in 2004…Four-time All-MAC First-Team and was MAC Individual Champion and MAC Runner of the Year 3x…Four-time All-Mid East Region and Mid-East Regional Champion in 2004…named Academic All-District First-Team twice…named Academic All-American in 2004…Four-time Dr. John Compardo Female Athlete of the Year…two-time LVAIAW Runner of the Year…Inducted into DeSales University Hall of Fame.

·       Haley Estus ’25 – All-MAC First-Team once and Second-Team twice in CC…All-Region in 2024…Academic All-MAC Team in 2024…USTFCCCA All-Academic twice in CC…USTFCCCA All-Region twice in T&F…Top 8 finisher at MAC T&F Championships 10x…won MAC Gold as member of DMR Relay team in Indoor T&F in 2023.
 
Running Career
Hornig was team captain and named the Most Valuable Runner in 1991 and earned Academic All-League honors.
 
Personal
Hornig resides in Center Valley, PA and works full-time as a psychotherapist and also as an adjunct professor at DeSales in the criminal justice department.  He is married to wife, Robie, and has one daughter, Hannah.
