Scott Coval enters his 25th year as the Director of Athletics at DeSales University overseeing 19 NCAA Division III varsity athletic teams, the university’s club sports teams and the DSU intramural program.
 
During Coval’s first 24 years at the helm, the Bulldogs have seen unprecedented success.  Overall, DSU has won or shared 84 team championships including 34 conference tournament championships, 44 regular season championships and six ECAC South Region titles.   In addition, the Bulldogs have earned 35 NCAA Tournament berths.
 
In 2003, the baseball team won the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA College World Series.  In 2008, the women’s basketball team won two NCAA Tournament games and earned the right to play in the “Sweet 16”.  And in 2009 and 2010, the men’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA “Elite 8” and "Sweet 16" in successive years.

Since Coval assumed the role as athletic director 52 DeSales athletes, across 12 different sports, have been recognized as All-Americans.  In 2003, Gina Lucrezi became an NCAA individual National Champion in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Division Indoor National Championships.
 
The DeSales athletic program has won the MAC Sportsmanship Award 15 times (eight for men and seven for women) in the past 15 years.  In addition DeSales has seen 36 student-athletes earn the MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete award, fourth most in the conference.
 
Previously Coval spent five years at the Assistant Athletic Director at DeSales along with being the Athletic Recruiting Coordinator for the department.  In his initial year as Athletic Director, Coval helped guide the athletic department through a University name change – from Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales to the current DeSales University.
 
Coval, who is also the head men’s basketball coach at DeSales, is a 1986 graduate of the College of William and Mary.
 
Coval resides in Orefield, PA with his wife Kaye and their three children, Keeley (24), Mia (22) and Nicholas (19).
