DSU falls to Wilkes, 9-0; Finishes as Third Seed for Freedom Playoffs

Bethlehem, PA (October 16, 2008) – The DeSales University women's tennis team fell to Wilkes University, 9-0, on Thursday evening in a Freedom Conference match played at Lehigh University's indoor tennis center.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the Freedom, while the Colonels improve to 10-0 and 7-0 in the Freedom to wrap up the Freedom Conference playoffs top seed. DSU finishes as the #3 seed and will take on the #2 seed Misericordia University in the first round which will be held in the spring on April 25^th and 26^th.

The Bulldogs failed to take a set in any match but sophomores Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton), Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) and MaryKate Boylan (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) each won two games in both their sets in singles play.

The Bulldogs conclude their fall schedule this weekend when they travel to the Hempfield Sports Complex for the MASCAC Individual Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
