DSU Stays Unbeaten in Freedom; Wins Third Straight, 4-0, over Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (October 18, 2008) – The DeSales University women's soccer team won its third straight game to stay unbeaten in Freedom Conference play with a 4-0 win over Misericordia University on a chilly Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs move to 7-5-1 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom with the win, while the Cougars fall to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the Freedom. DSU enjoyed a 16-8 edge in shots, while MU had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

DSU took a 1-0 lead in the first half when senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) scored her fourth goal of the year on a shot from about 30-yards out into the upper right corner off a throw-in pass from junior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall). The assist for LaDuke was the 13th of her career, moving her into first on the all-time list at DeSales.

The lead remained one into the half before DeSales added on three more tallies in the second half. Sophomore Jill Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) scored her third of the year on a sweet pass from fellow sophomore Jena Meaney (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy) to make it 2-0 and LaDuke scored her sixth of the season off a feed from Yetter at the 70:29 mark to make it 3-0.

Senior Nicole Pietrobon (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) provided the exclamation point as she scored unassisted at the 82:36 mark, her second marker of the season. Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) and freshman Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) combined for the shutout as Millili made three saves and Halpin had one save in 45 minutes of action each.

DeSales will return to action on Tuesday, October 21st when they travel to Manhattanville College for another Freedom Conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
