Late Goal Snaps Three-Game Winning Streak; Bulldogs Fall 2-1

Purchase, NY (October 21, 2008) – The DeSales University women's soccer team was unable to make a 1-0 halftime lead hold up as Manhattanville College scored with just under eight minutes left to snap DSU's win streak, 2-1, on Tuesday afternoon in a Freedom Conference game.

The loss is the first in Freedom Conference play on the season for the Bulldogs who fall to 7-6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Freedom. MC improves to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in the Freedom with the win.

DSU took a 1-0 lead at the 38:32 mark when senior Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township) scored her ninth goal of the season off an assist from freshman Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg). The Bulldogs had just one shot in the first half as the Valiants had a 7-1 advantage in shots.

In the second half, Dawn Belonick tied the game at one at the 59:37 mark and Bailey Flood scored the game winner at 82:03 when she knocked home a corner kick sent into the box by Kathryn Moore.

DSU will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware Valley College for another Freedom Conference beginning at Noon.
