Center Valley, PA (October 29, 2008) – The DeSales University women's soccer team suffered its third consecutive Freedom Conference game falling to Eastern University, 3-2, on a windy and chilly Wednesday afternoon.

The game featured a small hail storm midway thru the second half. Eastern (11-5, 7-0 Freedom) got on the board first when Jill DiRenzo scored her 11th goal of the year on a crossing pass from Ashley Hackman at 8:28. The lead swelled to two goals just over seven minutes later when Hackman scored off an assist from Allison Inch. DeSales (7-8-1, 4-3 Freedom) got on the board, cutting the deficit in half just before the half when freshman Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) scored unassisted 3:35 before the break, her fifth goal of the year.

In the second half, the Eagles regained their two goal advantage when Corie Brant scored her first goal of the season, unassisted at the 64:44 mark. DSU countered when senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) scored on a free kick bender, her fifth of the year, about three minutes later and with just under 22 minutes left to play, but the Bulldogs were unable to find the tying goal as EU escaped with the win.

EU held a 27-12 edge in shots and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) and freshman Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) split time in goal with each making five saves.

DeSales returns to action on Saturday, November 1st when they host King's College in a Freedom Conference beginning at Noon. The Bulldogs need a win to clinch its third career Freedom Conference playoff berth and the first since the 2006 season. You can follow the game's progress online via LIVE stats at the following link – CLICK HERE.
