Center Valley, PA (November 1, 2008) – Junior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) saved what could be described as her best for what could have been her last regular season home game scoring two goals and  lifting the DeSales University women's soccer team past King's College, 2-1, earning a home playoff game on Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs earn the #4 seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs next week and will host the #5 seed, Wilkes University, on Monday with the winner advancing to take on the top seed, Eastern University, on Wednesday. The playoff berth is the third all-time for the Bulldogs and the second in the last three years, who improve to 8-8-1 overall and 5-3 in the Freedom Conference.

DSU took a 1-0 lead early in the first half, when LaDuke fired home her seventh tally of the season. Sophomore Jena Meaney (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph Hill Academy) started the play with an excellent pass thru the defense to freshman Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) who sent a pass across the front of the goal right to LaDuke who was there to fire home the shot.

The Bulldogs dominated play throughout most of the game but the Lady Monarchs took advantage of an excellent scoring chance late in the first half when Jade Juniga sent a long pass over the DSU defense and freshman Becky Chateauneuf tracked down the long pass and beat the DSU keeper one-on-one with just 2:02 left before the break to tie the score at one.

DeSales controlled play once again in the second half holding a 22-1 edge in shots during the second stanza but were unable to get the go-ahead goal until LaDuke struck again with 4:07 left in the game. Dribbling to the left corner, LaDuke cut back towards the middle of the field, dribbled into the box and fired a shot over the keeper's head and into the net giving DSU the lead and eventually the win.

Overall, the Bulldogs had a 40-4 advantage in shots and held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Rachael Donatiello made 15 saves for the Lady Monarchs, while freshman #Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and junior #Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) did not have to make a save for DeSales.
