Center Valley, PA (November 15, 2008) – The 9th ranked DeSales University women's basketball team left little doubt in its season opener topping Immaculata University, 83-32, in the opening round of the Starter's Pub Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs shot 47.1 percent from the field and forced 33 Mighty Mac turnovers in the win as they start the season 1-0 for the third straight year. With the score tied at two early, DSU 17-2 run, to take a 19-4 lead and never looked back. DeSales led by as many as 29 points twice in the first half including at the half when junior Emily Hoffman (Laceyville, PA/Wyalusing Valley) nailed a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give the Bulldogs a 42-13 lead into the locker room.

In the second half it was more of the same as senior LeighAnn Burke (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) caught fire hitting four three-pointers in the second half including three straight during a two minute stretch with the third in that sequence breaking the all-time record for treys in a career with 177. Burke breaks the record held by Jen Netwall.
