Bulldogs Snap Losing Skid; Top Albright, 7-2

Sophomore Charles Marriner was a double winner on Tuesday in the win over Albright College

Reading, PA (April 15, 2008) - The DeSales University men's tennis team snapped its eight game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over Albright College on Tuesday afternoon. The non-conference win now makes the Bulldogs at 2-8 overall.
 
The Bulldogs reversed their fortunes from recent matches and were able to take control early on in the contest. The 2nd doubles team comprised of freshman Joe Sulpizio (Bath, PA/Notre Dame) and freshman Anthony Guerriero (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills) earned an impressive 8-5 victory, while sophomores Seth Conklin (Valencia, PA/Aquinas Academy) and Charles Marriner (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) teamed up for an 8-6 win at the 3rd position.
 
DeSales continued its strong play in singles action, taking all but one point. Junior Jake Hoover (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame) set the tone early and scored an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win over Dave Scherler at the 1st singles position. Sulpizio rolled 6-2, 6-1 at 3rd singles, while Guerriero fought back for a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (4) win at the 4th singles spot. Conklin held on for a 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (9) win in his 5th singles match, and Marriner rounded out the scoring with a strong 6-3, 6-2 win at the 6th singles position.
 
The Bulldogs next take the court on Monday, April 21st when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00pm.
