Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 18, 2008) – The DeSales University women's tennis was ousted from the Freedom Conference playoffs with a semifinal round loss to King's College, 5-3, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

The loss ends the Bulldogs season eight months after it started in late August. DSU finishes with a 9-6 overall record. Seniors Courtney McClurkin (Collegeville, PA/Spring-Ford) and Liz Guidon (Northampton, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) got things started on Saturday with an 8-4 win at the No. 1 doubles spot as the Bulldogs trailed 2-1 following the doubles matches, one of which was by default with DSU having just five players.

In the singles round, DSU needed to take four of the five matches that were being played and were able to just win two, while another was unfinished with DeSales leading and the match already decided. Winners for DeSales included Guidon at the No. 2 singles spot, 6-1, 6-1 and sophomore Nickie Brackbill (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) was leading at the No. 3 spot, 4-6, 6-0, 3-2 when the match was stopped with the team result already decided.
