Five-Run Sixth leads Aggies past Bulldogs, 9-3

Sophomore Doc Neiman was the lone Bulldog with multiple hits in the loss at Delaware Valley College.

Center Valley, PA (April 7, 2008) – The DeSales University baseball team lost its first Freedom Conference series of the season, dropping the rubber game of the three-game set with Delaware Valley College on Monday afternoon, 9-3.
 
        The Aggies (15-8, 3-3 Freedom) used a five-run sixth inning to break a tie at two and cruised the rest of the way taking two of three from the Bulldogs (12-12, 5-4 Freedom). DSU had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI groundout from freshman Tim Fiorito (Mesa, AZ/Seton Catholic) and an RBI double from fellow freshman Evan Zechman (Wilmington, DE/St. Mark's) but DVC tied the game in the bottom of the inning and broke it open in the sixth with five runs.
 
        DeSales committed five errors and had a passed ball as compared to none for Delaware Valley leading to five unearned runs. Freshman Mike Newland (Frenchtown, NJ/Delaware Valley) suffered the loss as he lasted 5.2 innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
 
        At the plate, sophomore Doc Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) was the lone Bulldog with multiple hits. Junior Zac Hess (Harleysville, PA/LaSalle), Fiorito and Zechman each had RBI's in the loss.

        No rest for the weary as the Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, April 8th when they travel to Montclair State University for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm.
