Baseball Drops Third Straight, 7-3 at Montclair State

Junior Zac Hess hit a solo home run in the loss at Montclair State on Tuesday.

Little Falls, NJ (April 8, 2008) – The DeSales University baseball team dropped its third straight game falling to Montclair State University, 7-3, in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon in Yogi Berra Stadium.
 
        The loss drops DeSales under .500 at 12-13 overall as it managed just three hits in the defeat. MSU improves to 11-9 overall. Trailing 3-0 entering the sixth inning, the Bulldogs crossed home plate twice to cut the margin down to one run on an RBI ground out from junior Mike Bianca (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) and one Red Hawk error.
 
        The Red Hawks answered right back with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning and put the game away with three more runs in the seventh inning to take a 7-2 lead. Junior Zac Hess (Harleysville, PA/LaSalle) added a solo home run, his first of the season, in top of the ninth inning to provide the final margin.
 
        Sophomore Mark Reilly (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame) took the loss to fall to 2-2 on the season. He lasted four innings allowing five hits and three runs, while striking out two.

        DSU is back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Rutgers-Newark in another non-conference game beginning at 3:30 pm at Butz Field.
