Elizabethtown, PA (April 9, 2008) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team dropped its third straight conference game falling to Elizabethtown College, 13-5, on Wednesday afternoon in an MAC Conference game.
Trailing by just two goals at the half, the Blue Jays (3-7, 1-2 MAC) broke the game open with five goals in the third period to open up a 9-3 lead. DSU (5-7, 0-3 MAC) managed just one goal in the third and allowed nine goals in the second half after holding EC to just four in the first two quarters. E-Town out-shot DeSales, 36-31, and held a 32-24 advantage in ground balls. DSU controlled the face-offs winning 12-of-22 and each team had one man-up goal.
Leading the scoring attack for the Bulldogs was senior Dan Thomer (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) with three goals and an assist in the loss. Junior Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) and freshman Whit Bruemmer (Richboro, PA/Council Rock South) each had one goal and junior Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) added an assist.
Senior Sam Gobeli (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) had a team-high six ground balls and went 12-for-20 in the face-off circle. Freshman Justin Campanelli (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) had nine saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return home and to action on Saturday, April 12th when they host King's College in another MAC Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
