WSoccer Starts Season with 4-0 Win at Albright

Reading, PA, (August 29, 2008) – Junior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) tallied one goal and one assist to lead the DeSales University women's soccer team past Albright College, 4-0, in a non-conference game to start the season for both teams.

LaDuke assisted on a goal from senior Dana Eustace (Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Township) at the 33:43 mark of the first half to put DSU on the board and the Bulldogs never looked back from there. DSU (1-0 overall) out-shot the Lions (0-1 overall), 17-6 and held a 6-2 edge on corner kicks in the win. Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) made five saves, recording her second career shutout in the win.

Sophomore Jill Yetter (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) also scored in the first half, just 1:22 before the halftime whistle, off an assist from senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) to put DeSales up 2-0. In the second half, freshman Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) scored her first collegiate goal unassisted at the 67:39 mark and LaDuke got on the board with her lone tally of the game on an assist from freshman Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) with just 1:55 left to play.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 3rd when they travel to Cedar Crest College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
