Center Valley, PA (September 10, 2008) – After being rained out yesterday, the DeSales University women's soccer team got to open its 2008 home season today but had to settle for a 1-1 double overtime tie with Immaculata University in a non-conference game on a picture perfect afternoon.

The Bulldogs (2-1-1 overall) had to come from behind in the game as the Mighty Macs (0-2-2 overall) got on the board first at the 25;10 mark of the first half when Zena Tracey scored her second goal of the season when she knocked home a shot off a rebound of a shot taken from teammate Athena Campbell that had bounced off the post and right to Tracey in front of the net.

The game remained 1-0 into the half but DSU wasted no time tying the game in the second half as senior Katie Dishman (Nazareth, PA/Pen Argyl) scored unassisted when her shot from just outside the 18 just got over an out-stretched hand of IU's keeper and landed in the left corner of the goal.

The Bulldogs controlled play almost the entire second half and overtime, out-shooting the Mighty Macs, 18-6, after halftime but were never able to get a go ahead goal. The best chance came late in the second half when a centering pass from junior Emily LaDuke (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) was re-directed by freshman Amanda Fink (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) and seemed destined for the goal but it bounced off the crossbar and was cleared by the defense before another Bulldog could knock it home.

For the game, DeSales out-shot Immaculata, 25-12, and had a 10-2 advantage on corner kicks. Junior Katie Halpin (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) made four saves for the Bulldogs as compared to eight saves for the Mighty Macs keeper, Jessica Gaburo.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to the William Smith College Tournament to take on Mt. St. Vincent College in the tournament opener at 2:00 pm.
