Bulldogs Cruise Past Immaculata, 9-0, in Women’s Tennis

Immaculata, PA, (September 11, 2008) – The DeSales University women's tennis team ran its win streak to three matches with a 9-0 win over Immaculata University in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.

DSU swept two of the three doubles matches and won the third by default and won five of the six singles matches and the sixth by default to record a sweep of all nine matches.

In doubles action sophomores Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) and Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) recorded an 8-2 win at the No. 1 doubles spot, while sophomore MaryKate Boylan (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) and freshman Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton-Steinert East) earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 2 doubles position.

In singles play, Steiner won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot, Smith easily won, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, Boylan was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at the No. 3 spot, Petrilla improved to 3-0 this season in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 4 spot and freshman Krista Damirgian (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday when they travel to King's College for the first Freedom Conference match of the season. The start time has been moved up to 11:30 am.
