Women’s Tennis Falters in 7-2 Loss to Misericordia

Sophomores Kate Steiner and Jess Smith each earned wins on Saturday vs. Misericordia

Center Valley, PA, (September 20, 2008) – The DeSales University women's tennis team dropped its first Freedom Conference match of the season, falling to Misericordia University, 7-2, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

DSU (4-2, 1-1 Freedom) lost all three doubles matches (one due to a forfeit) and was able to take just two of six singles matches including one forfeit loss to drop the match to the Cougars (6-1, 2-0 Freedom).

Sophomores Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) and Jess Smith (Abbottstown, PA/Delone Catholic) each earned wins in singles play as Steiner won 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4), at the No. 1 spot and Smith won easily, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot.

The Bulldogs return to action on Monday, September 22^nd when they host Ursinus College in a non-conference match beginning at 3:30 pm.
