BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (September 27, 2008) – The DeSales University field hockey team entered Saturday's game vs. Wilkes University looking to be the first team to hand them a loss in 2008 but the Bulldogs fell just short in a 2-0 defeat to the Colonels in a Freedom Conference game.

A 0-0 tie to start the second half was broken at the 52:18 mark when Diana Wright scored a beautiful goal off a penalty corner as Brittany Sines and Amanda Tilley earned assists on the perfectly set-up play.

DSU put pressure on the Colonel keeper several times in each half and were on the doorstep a couple of times looking to get on the board but were never able to get that tying goal as Wilkes added its second goal, the insurance, with just 14 seconds left when Alyssa Koncelik took control of a loose ball in the circle and fired it home.

Wilkes held a 15-8 edge in shots and an 11-7 advantage in penalty corners. Senior Marian Karnas (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) made four saves in the cage for the Bulldogs.

DSU will return to action on Thursday, October 2nd when they travel to Eastern University for another Freedom Conference beginning at 4:00 pm.
