Field Hockey Falls to Eastern Mennonite, 6-0

Harrisonburg, VA (September 7, 2008) – The DeSales University field hockey team suffered its second loss of the season falling to Eastern Mennonite University, 6-0, in the final game of three contests in a two-day stretch at the EMU Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bulldogs fall to 3-2 overall with the loss as EMU out-shot DSU, 20-5, in the loss. The deficit was just one goal at the half as EMU's Katie Cimini got the hosts on the board at the 6:25 mark. The lead swelled to 2-0 at the 38:48 mark and was 3-0 on Cimini's third goal at the 42:38 mark. Eastern Mennonite tallied three more goals over a 1:31 second span late in the game to provide the final margin.

Sophomore Jen Bessinger (Langhorne, PA/Archbishop Wood) made eight saves in between the pipes for the Bulldogs in the loss.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, September 11th when they travel to Neumann College for a non-conference game beginning at 4:00 pm.
