Radnor, PA (January 17, 2009) – #18 DeSales University shot 50.0 from the field in the second half erasing a two-point halftime deficit to record a 68-60 win over Cabrini College in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at the Nerney Field House.

DSU (12-2 overall) shot just 34.5 percent from the field in the opening half but its defense kept the Bulldogs close as they trailed by just two points, 29-27. Cabrini (9-3 overall) converted 52.2 percent in the first half to build the lead but were guilty of 13 first-half turnovers.

Cabrini never trailed in the first twenty minutes leading by as many as seven points on several different occasions. Senior LeighAnn Burke (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) scored DSU's final eight points of the half and the last five overall to pull the Bulldogs within two entering the locker room.

An 11-2 run to start the second half gave DSU a four-point lead, 38-34 as Burke had five points including a triple to give DeSales the four-point lead. A three from senior Erica Sovak (Tuxedo, NY/George F. Baker) pushed the lead up to seven points at the 8:43 mark and a jumper from sophomore Shaina Dymond (Shickshinny, PA/Northwest) made the score 50-41 with just over eight minutes left.

Cabrini cut into the lead with a three-pointer and a conventional three-point play with 6:27 left. The two teams traded baskets over the next few possessions before back-to-back buckets from senior Kim Rarick (Ringtown, PA/North Schuylkill) pushed the lead back up to seven points with 3:35 to go and the Bulldogs canned 11-of-12 freebies over the final two minutes to ice the game.

Burke finished with a game-high 19 points and pulled down five rebounds. Rarick added 12 points and five assists and junior Caitlin Miller (Fogelsville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Kaila Wiand (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) continued her hot shooting with 10 points on 4-for-7 from the field. Sovak and Dymond combined for nine points and seven rebounds off the bench.
