Purchase, NY (October 20, 2009) – For the first seventy minutes on Tuesday the DeSales University women's soccer team had Manhattanville College on the ropes but two late goals by the Valiants spoiled DSU's upset bid as the Bulldogs fell 2-1 in a Freedom Conference game on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

DSU falls for the second straight game for the second time in the Freedom Conference as they drop to 6-8-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the Freedom. The Valiants improve to 13-1-1 overall and 5-0 in the Freedom.

DSU jumped out to a one-goal lead just prior to the thirty minute mark when sophomore Haley Vollmer (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) scored unassisted, her fifth goal of the year. That lead held up into the half as the Bulldogs hung tight on the defensive end, despite the Valiants enjoying an 8-5 lead advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

DeSales continued to lead thru the first 25 minutes of the second half as Manhattanville turned up the offensive pressure. The Valiants continued to pepper the DSU net with shots and broke thru to tie the game at one at the 71:41 mark on a goal from Morgan Rebollal. MVille continued pounding the offensive zone and took its first lead just 4:14 after it tied game on Rebollal's second goal, which proved to be the game-winner.

Sophomore Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) played well once again, keeping DSU in the game with 10 saves in between the pipes.

The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, October 24th when they travel to Misericordia University for another critical Freedom Conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
