Women’s Tennis ends Fall Season with 7-2 Loss at Alvernia

Junior Kate Steiner won her 10th singles match of the season on Tuesday at Alvernia.

Reading, PA (October 20, 2009) – The DeSales University women's tennis team concluded the team portion of its fall schedule with a 7-2 setback at Alvernia University in a non-conference match held on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

The loss moves DeSales to 3-10 overall for the season, while Alvernia improves to 12-2 overall. Leading the way on Tuesday was junior #Kate Steiner# (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) who continued her fine season with two more wins.

Steiner teamed with sophomore #Christine Petrilla# (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert-Hamilton East) to win, 8-3 at the No. 1 doubles position and then earned a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9) win at the No. 1 singles spot.

The Bulldogs will conclude its schedule this weekend when they compete individually at the MASCAC Individual Championship Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
