Reading, PA (October 22, 2009) – The DeSales University volleyball team tied a team record winning its 13th straight match with a 3-0 win over Albright College (25-19, 25-15, 25-17) in non-conference action on Thursday evening on the same day it received news that it was ranked eighth in the first edition of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.

DSU (18-6 overall) will get a chance to break the team record for consecutive wins on Wednesday, October 28th when they return to action in a critical Freedom Conference game vs. King's College in Billera Hall beginning at 7:00 pm.

Earlier in the day the NCAA released its regional rankings used by the organization to seed and select teams for the NCAA Tournament and the Bulldogs were ranked eighth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. It is believed this is the first time since the 1995 season that DeSales has been ranked in the NCAA Regional Rankings.

In the win on Thursday night several Bulldogs contributed. Seniors Joann Rivera (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) and Jen Mellon (Media, PA/Penncrest) each totaled 10 kills to lead the offensive attack, while junior Kylie Fehnel (Nazareth, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) and freshman Paige Horrigan (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) each added six kills. Fehnel also had 15 digs and three blocks and Horrigan had a team-high seven blocks.

Freshman Justine McNulty (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) totaled 32 assists and 11 digs, freshman Eden Reichard (Mertztown, PA/Brandywine) finished with four aces and eight digs, junior Alyssa Poplaski (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) added 10 digs, and senior Kerri Andrews (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) finished with a team-high 14 digs, moving within 23 digs of becoming the first-ever player to record 2,000 digs in a career.

Joining the Bulldogs in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings were Juniata (#1), Haverford (#2), Eastern (#3), Salisbury (#4), Lebanon Valley (#5), Frostburg State (#6), Mary Washington (#7), and the Bulldogs at #8.
