Steiner/Petrilla Each Win Twice; Bulldogs Fall 5-4 at Misericordia

Junior Kate Steiner improved to 7-3 in singles play this season with a win on Saturday.

Dallas, PA (October 3, 2009) – The DeSales University women's tennis fell just short in its match at Misericordia, falling to the Cougars, 5-4, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs (3-6, 2-2 Freedom) was junior Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) and sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert-Hamilton East) who each won two matches on the day. The two teamed together at the No. 1 doubles spot to win, 8-3, just before Steiner won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 1 singles spot and Petrilla earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 2 singles position.

Junior Yllka Cana (Allentown, PA/William Allen) continued her strong singles play as she won her third Freedom Conference singles match of the year, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 6 position.

DSU returns to action on Tuesday, October 6^th when they travel to Ursinus College for a non-conference match beginning at 3:30 pm.
