Steiner Impresses in 7-2 Loss at Ursinus

Junior Kate Steiner improved to 8-3 in singles on Tuesday at Ursinus.

Collegeville, PA (October 6, 2009) – Junior Kate Steiner (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) continued her winning ways, winning twice for the DeSales University women's tennis team in a 7-2 loss at Ursinus College in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-7 overall on the season with the loss. Steiner teamed with sophomore Christine Petrilla (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert-Hamilton East) at the No. 1 doubles position to win 9-7. Steiner and Petrilla are now 8-4 in doubles action this season.

In singles play, Steiner defeated UC's Jen Hope, 6-3, 6-0. The reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Week is now 8-3 in singles action this season. Junior Yllka Cana (Allentown, PA/William Allen) also played well in singles, winning the first set, 7-5, before falling in three sets, 5-7, 0-1 (6-10).

DSU returns to action on Thursday, October 8^th when they host Eastern University in a Freedom Conference match beginning at 3:00 pm.
