Women’s Tennis Drops Conference Match to Eastern, 6-3

Freshman Ariane Cain teamed with sophomore Krista Damirgian to win at No. 2 doubles this afternoon.

Center Valley, PA (October 8, 2009) – The DeSales University women's tennis team dropped its third straight match on Thursday afternoon falling to Freedom Conference foe Eastern University, 6-3 in the final home match of the fall season.

DSU falls to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in the Freedom with the loss, while the Eagles improve to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom. DeSales took one of the three doubles matches as sophomore #Krista Damirgian# (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) teamed with freshman #Ariane Cain# (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) to win 8-6 at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, junior #Kate Steiner# (Walnutport, PA/Northampton) continued her undefeated Freedom Conference season with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot and junior #Yllka Cana# (Allentown, PA/William Allen) was once again strong, winning 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday, October 10^th when they travel to Wilkes University for another Freedom Conference match beginning at 1:00 pm.
