Center Valley, PA (December 30, 2009) – Any rust the Bulldogs had having not played in 18 days was shook off in the first 20 minutes on Wednesday evening as the DeSales University men's basketball team put on a clinic in the second half, out-scoring Centenary College, 58-25, to pull away for a 101-64 win and its 17th straight victory in Billera Hall.

The Bulldogs (7-3 overall) shot 66.7 percent (22-of-33) from the field in the second half and held the high-powered Cyclone (4-5 overall) offense to just 20.0 percent (6-for-30) shooting over the final 20 minutes. Centenary had entered the game averaging 89.4 points per game. DSU had 29 assists to just 12 turnovers and dominated the glass out-rebounding CC, 48-31.

Centenary jumped out of the gates, taking a 14-7 lead over the first five minutes before DeSales went to its bench and quickly responded with a quick 8-0 run highlighted by two three's from senior Rob Schubach (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) to take a 15-14 lead.

The game went back-and-forth over the next seven minutes with DeSales hanging on for a six-point lead, 31-25, at the six minute mark when the Bulldogs scored nine straight points to lead by 15, 40-25, including another triple from Schubach. The Cyclones however refused to go down without a fight and ended the half on a 14-3 run to pull within four points as both teams headed to the locker room.

A jumper Ryan Kearney to start the half cut the DSU lead down to two points but from that point forward it was all DeSales. Both teams went scoreless over the next 90 seconds when sophomore Jamey Bercier (Stroudsburg, PA/Notre Dame) hit two straight lay-ups to push the lead up to six. The lead remained six at the 15:26 mark when the Bulldogs exploded for a 21-6 run over the next six minutes and all of a sudden it was a 21-point game, 73-52.

During the run five different players scored including freshman Brett Moyer (Souderton, PA/Christopher Dock) and sophomore Bob Zanneo (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge) with six points each to lead the way. Centenary never got any closer than 18 points the rest of the way with the lead peaking at 37 twice, including the 101-64 final margin.

Several Bulldogs contributed in the win including Zanneo who led a bench attack that totaled 71 points and 17 assists, with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Schubach tied his career-high with 20 points and added a career-high seven assists, while Moyer also came off the bench to pour in a season-high 17 points. Schubach was 7-of-8 from the field, including six treys, while Moyer canned 7-of-10 from the floor. Senior Charles Princiotto (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) had an excellent floor game off the bench with six points, a career-high six assists, and a career and game-high eight rebounds.

Senior Darnell Braswell (Allentown, PA/William Allen) totaled 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds, Bercier added nine points, and junior Brian Hunter (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) had six assists and a career-high three blocked shots in the win.

Ryan Kearney was the lone player to reach double digits for the Cyclones with 15 points.
