Men’s Lacrosse Finishes Southern Trip with 9-4 Loss to Catholic

Washington, DC (March 6, 2009) – The DeSales University men's lacrosse team concluded its spring break trip down south with a 9-4 loss to Catholic University on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (0-2 overall) scored the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead but CU (2-0 overall) scored the next nine goals to take a 9-1 lead after three periods before DSU tallied three goals in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.

Freshman Jeff Cook (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) led the way with one goal and one assist in the loss. Junior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) and junior Dan Quinn (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) also scored goals, while senior Andrew Ervin (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) and freshman Michael Bassani (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) each added assists.

Junior Jarryd Stamatelos (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) had eight saves and Walker led the way with eight ground balls and won 10-of-14 face-offs.

The Bulldogs return home now but will take back to the road on Wednesday, March 11th when they travel to Wesley College for a non-conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
