BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2009) – Not much, if anything, went right for the DeSales University baseball team on Friday afternoon as they saw its five-game winning streak snapped with a 15-0 loss at Alvernia University in a Freedom Conference game on another picture perfect afternoon for baseball.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs split the season series with AU after its 7-6 late inning win on Thursday afternoon. DSU is now 18-12 overall and 7-5 in the Freedom heading into a very important Freedom Conference doubleheader at Butz Field on Saturday vs. King's College. Alvernia improves to 18-14 overall and 5-5 in the Freedom with the win.

Alvernia jumped on top in the bottom of the third inning when they scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead and never looked back from there, scoring in each of the final six innings it came to the plate in the win. DeSales mustered just six hits, all of which were singles and were picked off first base twice, once each in the first and second innings.

Senior Chris Brian (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) took the loss as he lasted just 3.2 innings allowing five runs and six hits to go along with four walks. He is now 2-5 on the season. Senior Nick Repas (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) continued to swing a hot bat as he went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in the loss.

As mentioned above DSU hosts King's College in a very important Freedom Conference doubleheader that will go a long way in painting a Freedom Conference playoff picture on Saturday afternoon at Butz Field. The doubleheader begins at Noon with game one and for those unable to attend you can follow the game's progress online via LIVE stats at the following link – CLICK HERE.
