Jim Booros Named Head Golf Coach at DeSales

Center Valley, PA, (March 31, 2009) – DeSales University Athletics Director Scott Coval has announced Jim Booros as the head coach of the golf program at DeSales University. Booros begins his tenure at DSU immediately as the Bulldogs begin their spring season this Friday at the Moravian College Invitational.
 
A member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) since 1985, Booros played full-time on the PGA Tour for nine years between 1977 and 1991. During that time he participated in 265 events, including four U.S. Open championships and one P.G.A. championship, recorded five top-ten finishes, and made the top-125 exempt list five times. He won the 1989 Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic (in Hattiesburg, MS) the year before it became on official PGA Tour event.
 
In his professional career, Booros also played on the Asian Golf Tour, the Hogan Tour, and in three Nike Tour (now Nationwide Tour) events. He competed in six PGA Club Professional Events and holds seven tournament championships in the Philadelphia Section of the PGA, where he continues to play professionally.
 
Locally, Booros served as the head golf professional at the Allentown Municipal Golf Course and at Whitetail Golf Club, where he also consulted on the course design. He has also been an instructor at the Fox Hollow Golf Club and in the Jim Muschlitz Golf Academy at Southmoore Golf Club. In 2004 he was among the first inductees to the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame.
 
A lifelong resident of Allentown, PA, Booros continues to reside there with his wife Debbie, who is Dean of Lifelong Learning at DeSales.
