Baseball Ends Season with 13-4 Win over Local Rival Moravian

Junior Andrew Feher had four hits in the season-ending win over Moravian College on Wednesday.
Bethlehem, PA (April 29, 2009) – Junior Andrew Feher (Riegelsville, PA/Palisades) had four hits and senior Zac Hess (Harleysville, PA/LaSalle) hit a grand slam home run late leading the DeSales University baseball team past local rival Moravian College, 13-4, in the final game of the season for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs finish the year with a 21-16-1 overall record, while the Greyhounds fall to 20-18 overall. Leading 4-1 thru five innings, DSU exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning and never looked back in the win.

Hess and Feher got DeSales on the board with RBI singles in the second inning and sophomore #Carson Slonaker# (East Greenville, PA/Perkiomen School) and junior Derek Moyer (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) each had RBI's in the third.

In the eight-run sixth, senior Greg Treat (Concord, NH/Concord) had a two-RBI double, senior Matt Connors (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) drove in two runs with a single before Hess put the exclamation point on the day with a grand slam home run to finish off the scoring in the inning.

Senior Chris Brian (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) earned the win as six different pitchers saw time on the bump. Brian started the game and tossed two scoreless innings, striking out three without allowing a hit.

Treat finished with two runs and two RBI's, Hess had two hits, three runs scored, and five RBI's, and Feher had a team-high four hits and also knocked in two runs. Overall, 10 Bulldogs recorded hits in a 14-hit attack.
