BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (April 5, 2009) – Senior Joshua Van Hart (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) scored a game-high five goals but it was not enough as the DeSales University men's lacrosse team fell to Lycoming College, 9-6, in an MAC Conference game on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops DeSales to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the MAC, while the Warriors improve to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the MAC. Lycoming not only won the game but dominated the ground ball war, picking up 40 ground balls as compared to just 19 for the Bulldogs. DSU was without a ground ball the entire fourth period. DeSales had a 34-30 advantage in shots but LC's keeper was up to the task making 14 saves in the win.

A tie game at three entering the second period, Lycoming out-scored DeSales 4-1 in the second period and that proved to be the difference as each team scored twice in the third period and no goals were scored in the fourth period.

Van Hart scored his five goals on just seven shots and freshman Michael Bassani (Califon, NJ/Voorhees) had the other Bulldog tally. Senior Matthew Brancaccio (Greenvale, NY/North Shore) assisted on three goals and junior Kevin Walker (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) also had an assist. Walker continued his strong play on the face-offs winning 10-of-18 and picked up four ground balls.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday when they travel to Manhattanville College for an important MAC Conference game beginning at 7:00 pm.
