BOX SCORE

Center Valley, PA (April 8, 2009) – Senior Nick Repas (Abingdon, MD/Bel Air) knocked in five runs leading another potent offensive attack as the DeSales University baseball team defeated FDU-Florham 19-9 to earn a series split with the Devils in a Freedom Conference game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs scored 19 runs, one day after putting a season-high 22 tallies on the board in the win over Eastern yesterday. DSU is now 15-11 overall and 5-4 in the Freedom, while the Devils fall to 13-6-1 overall and 4-2 in the Freedom.

After FDU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, DeSales responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning off an RBI single from senior Zac Hess (Harleysville, PA/LaSalle) and a bases loaded triple from Repas. The Devils tied the game in the third when they scratched out three runs but DSU took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth when junior Doc Neiman (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) hit an RBI single to leftfield plating senior Greg Treat (Concord, NH/Concord).

The Bulldogs added three runs in the fifth on an RBI base hit from senior Mike Bianca (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. St. Joseph) and a two-RBI single from Repas giving the hosts an 8-4 lead. FDU cut the deficit in half with two tallies in the top of the sixth but DeSales put the game away with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, five runs in the bottom of the seventh, and four more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

In the eighth, Treat doubled home two runs and Neiman knocked in another with his second hit of the game, while in the ninth, Treat again knocked in two runs with his second double of the game and Neiman pushed two more runs across with a two-RBI single.

Senior James Niesuchouski (Chester, VT/St. Dominic) earned the win pitching 2.2 innings of scoreless/hitless relief, striking out one. Leading the bat attack was Repas with three hits, two runs, and five RBI's. Treat and Neiman also finished with three hits each and both knocked in four runs in the win. Freshman Jack Kavetski (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh) went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Bianca and freshman Jason Hadinger (Northampton, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) each scored three times.

DSU will look to make it three straight Freedom Conference wins on tomorrow when they host Eastern University in the second game of their home-and-home series beginning at 3:30 pm. For those unable to attend you can follow the game's progress via LIVE Stats.
