Allentown, PA (September 12, 2009) – The DeSales University women's soccer team battled PSU-Altoona for almost 106 minutes but fell to the visiting Nittany Lions, 1-0, in the second overtime of a non-conference game played at nearby Salisbury High School on their turf field.

Altoona (4-0 overall) out-shot DeSales, 22-12, and had a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks in the game. The game-winner came on a long pass over the top of the defense that found Emily Reimold all alone about 15 yards outside the eighteen. She dribbled a few times into the box before firing a low shot to the right post, just past a diving Bulldog (1-4 overall) keeper and inside the post. Elizabeth Watt earned the assist on the play for the long pass.

DSU had two excellent changes, one in each half, to score but were never able to do so. The first came mid-way thru the first half when the Altoona goalkeeper grabbed a ball just outside the eighteen in the middle of the field, but the free kick hit the wall in front of the goal and was knocked aside.

In the second half a pass thru the defense found senior Nicole Pietrobon (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) all alone with just the goalie to beat, but a quick shot sailed wide left and the opportunity was squandered. Sophomore Melissa Millili (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) played well in goal, making four saves on the night.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, September 16th when they host Albright College in the first home game of the season beginning at 4:00 pm.
